The liquidation of the Polish Institute of Diplomacy

According to the Decree No. 9 from 31 March 2016 of the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the liquidation of the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Polish Institute of Diplomacy, the Institute is in the process of liquidation from 1 April 2016. The completion of the liquidation process will take place on 30 September 2016.

The Polish Institute of Diplomacy will conduct its current activities until the completion of the liquidation process.

The English-language module of the diplomatic and consular training program

A special, English-language module of this year’s diplomatic and consular training program has begun on May 4, 2016. The Polish participants have been joined by four young diplomats from Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. During the five weeks, the participants will take part in a tailor-made program prepared by the institute, during which they will learn about issues concerning the European integration, Euro-Atlantic security, and Polish Eastern and development policies.

Meeting with the director of the Office of the United Nations and International Organizations at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On 18 March 2016, the Polish Institute of Diplomacy held a meeting with Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Director of the Office of the United Nations and International Organizations at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who gave a lecture titled The United Nations and crisis management: the French perspective. Jean-Pierre Lacroix met with the participants of the diplomatic and consular training program. The discussion focused on, among others, UN missions and challenges confronting the organization in the face of current threats (e.g.

Videoconference with Colombian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

On 10 March 2016, a videoconference with Patti Londoño, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, took place at the Polish Institute of Diplomacy. Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Katarzyna Kacperczyk was also present. The videoconference, organized as part of the diplomatic and consular training program, was also attended by Colombian Ambassador in Warsaw Victoria Gonzalez, Polish Ambassador in Bogota Maciej Ziętara, as well as directors of relevant departments of ministries of foreign affairs of both countries.

The Ignacy Jan Paderewski Polish Institute of Diplomacy was created on 1 October 2012 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

About the Patron

Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) – a statesman, pianist and composer. The Polish Prime Minister in 1919 and Minister of Foreign Affairs, a Polish delegate to the Paris Peace Conference. From 1938 until 1941, the head of the National Council of Poland in exile.
